Hello, my name is Cynthia DeLay and here's a little information about me: This is my 26th year teaching at BMHS and I am an alumna as well. I also have an older brother and cousins who graduated from Bishop in the early 1980s, my mother used to run the faculty and student lunch program, my son graduated in 2024, and my mother-in-law was even an alumna along with most of her siblings. We are totally a Bishop family!
After graduating from Bishop Montgomery, I studied Psychology and History at UC San Diego and also have minors in General Biology and Organic Chemistry. I later earned my Masters in Education and completed all of the coursework for a teaching credential at Pepperdine University. I continue to participate in teacher conferences and workshops on a regular basis. I am also a member of several societies related to history and/or education including Phi Delta Kappa, the Organization of American Historians, and the National Council for the Social Studies as well as a few smaller regional societies.
I have taught multiple classes over my years here at BMHS including AP US History, Honors US History, US History, AP US Government, US Government, US After 1945, Biology, and Introduction to Catholicism. For the 2024-2025 school year, I am teaching three sections of AP US History, and two sections of Honors US History each semester plus a section of US After 1945 in the fall semester.
