PSAT 2023-2024
PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) 9th/10th/11th grades
We have scheduled the PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) for our students in grades 9/10/11 on the following schedule:
- 9th grade students - October 4, 2023
- 10th grade students - October 11, 2023
- 11th grade students - October 25, 2023
The PSAT/NMSQT® is an important preliminary test that provides many benefits that can help students along their paths to college.
In addition, students receive free college planning tools to help them start their college search and feedback on the types of AP courses for which they may be particularly well-prepared. Taking these college-level classes can help students earn college credit while still in high school and provide them with a competitive advantage in the college admission process. For our juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT offers consideration for college scholarships, as well as personalized feedback on their performance before taking the SAT.

Additional Practice Tests
During the school year we will offer free practice SAT and ACT administrations through Revolution Prep. These tests will be administered virtually and will be advertised in the Daily bulletin and weekly newsletter. PSAT RESULTS
To ensure that you get a digital copy of your test, students must complete the information sheet the day of the test correctly with their name, address, email address etc. Please also be sure to know the account information you create for collegeboard. This is something you will be using not only for the PSAT but also the SAT when you plan to take it. All of this is relevant information that will allow you to access your PSAT results.

Also, below is a breakdown of the PSAT provided by college board to give you a clearer understanding about what the numbers mean and what the student needs to work on to improve for the actual SAT.
Here are a few tips for the
JUNIORS:
- Calendar your test dates (take it at least one time in the spring before the end of junior year)
- SAT: March or May AP Tests are in May
- ACT: February or April Finals are in June
- Research nearby locations to take the test (we are not a testing site)
- Create a collegeboard or ACT account (remember your username and passwords…there is a whole summer in there; enough time to forget!)
- Register for tests early
- Take a practice test (practicing reduces anxiety and allows for strong preparation; we offer them fall and spring!)
- Explore test prep options: Khan Academy, Revolution Prep, Kaplan
SOPHOMORES:
- Identify which sections need more work
- Practice answering test questions (Khan Academy, College Board, etc have practice test ?s)
- Take a practice SAT or ACT when offered (we offer them in the spring)
- Gain a better understanding of NMSQT before you take the next PSAT
FRESHMEN:
- Don’t panic (it’s your first test!)
- Identify specific questions that caused trouble and work on those types of questions
- Each year try to improve your score
