Office of Diversity, Equity, and Justice Mission Statement

Based upon our Catholic faith, and in accordance with our commitment to creating compassionate, forward-thinking individuals, who are prepared to excel and make meaningful contributions to the greater community, Bishop Montgomery’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Justice (DEJ) aspires to be intentional in ensuring an increasingly just and equitable campus environment by:

Goals:

  1. Serving as the central point of communication within the school, as well an internal driver of all work within the school focused on diversity, equity, and justice;
  2. Educating administors, faculty, staff, and students on Diversity Equity, and Justice and Anti-Racism, empowering them to respond in ways that are respectful of each other’s human dignity;
  3. Increasing and expanding levels of awareness and cultural responsiveness, including knowledge of cultural celebrations, solemn days of remembrance, and the historial contemporary significance of individuals/groups, who have been historically oppressed and marginalized;
  4. Increasing and broadening levels of inclusion by actively listening to the thoughts, experiences, and suggestions of Bishop’s stakeholders and responding in ways that foster a sense of belonging;
  5. Further developing Bishop’s vision of Service and Justice, so that administrators, faculty, staff, and students become more knowledgeable about inequality and are better prepared to engage with the outside world as difference-makers and agents of change; and
  6. Regularly assess progress and present findings, within the school community, as a means of evaluating effectiveness and promoting both transparency and accountability.
