What is BMHS Day of Giving?

BMHS Day of Giving is an annual, one-day fundraising event held this year on May 30, 2019. All gifts made during these 24 hours will count toward our Day of Giving campaign, our Knight Pride Annual Appeal Campaign, and the Knight Pride Alumni Challenge.

Why give on May 30, 2019?

Your gift - of ANY amount - on this day has a powerful impact on Bishop Montgomery, and, more importantly, our students. All gifts to BMHS make an immediate impact on our entire community. Your gifts enable us to invest in financial aid, technology initiatives, curriculum programs, Christian service opportunities, & campus improvements. Every Gift Matters.

What is the goal?

To inspire alumni, current & past parents, friends, faculty & staff, and students to make a gift to Bishop Montgomery's Rosemary Libbon Queen of Angels Tuition Assistance Fund. Last year, we received 179 gifts on Day of Giving; our goal on May 30 is 350 individual gifts and $50,000. This year is going to be our best Day of Giving ever. Every gift, regardless of the size, provides opportunities for our students to be leaders and difference-makers.

How can I make a gift on Day of Giving?

BMHS accepts cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express.

There are four ways you can make a secure gift on May 30, 2019:

1. Online at www.bmhs-la.org/giving/ or by clicking the "GIVE NOW" button at the bottom of the home page at www.bmhs-la.org.

2. Call us at 310.540.2021 ext. 246 between 8am - 4pm PST. (after 4pm we will be at Happy Hour in the BMHS Schneider Retreat Center. Join us!)

3. Come by campus anytime between 8am - 6pm PST. Throughout the day, we will have special opportunities for anyone who makes a gift in person! Check out our Day of Giving Events page (link in the box to the right).

4. Send your check to BMHS and write "Day of Giving" in the memo line. We are asking you to make your gift in support of our Rosemary Libbon Queen of Angels Tuition Assistance Fund; however, you can certainly support any area of your choice.
     - use the envelope found in Veritas magazine and the Annual Report
     - use the envelope attached to the Knight Pride Annual Appeal Mailer
     - use any old envelope you can find. It doesn't matter.
Make your check payable to Bishop Montgomery High School, and send it to: Bishop Montgomery High School, Development Office, 5430 Torrance Boulevard, Torrance, CA 90503.

Who can participate?

Anyone - alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends - anyone. Help spread the word to your classmates, fellow parents and friends by sharing your support on social media using the hashtag #knightpride.

Where does my gift go?

This year, we are asking for you to support our Rosemary Libbon Queen of Angels Tuition Assistance Fund; however, you can certainly support any area of your choice. 100% of your gift goes directly to where you choose - Queen of Angels Fund, an academic department, theater arts, TBK (the band!), an athletic team, campus ministry, building plans, etc. If you would like to make an Unrestricted gift, your donation will be used for the area of greatest need. Not sure and want to talk? Call us at 310.540.2021 x246. We're happy to help answer any questions.

Is there a minimum gift amount?

Yes...and no. Let us explain. The minimum amount you can give through our secure, online site is $10. If you would like to make a gift of $1-$9, you can do that by cash or check. (Alumni...consider giving $1 for every year since you graduated...click here for a chart).

What is the Knight Pride Alumni Challenge?

Knight Pride Alumni Challenge is a giving competition that challenges each class to increase the number of donors who contribute to BMHS from July 1 - June 30 of each year. The competition is based on the number of alumni gifts from each class; it is not based on the dollar amount. What is the prize? Bragging rights. The class that gives the most gifts, not the most dollars, wins. Click here for up-to-date standings.

What if I already gave a gift this year?

Thank you for your support of BMHS. We do ask one favor, however. Encourage your classmates and friends to make a gift of any amount to BMHS. Tell them about Day of Giving and the power of every gift. Call them, text them, email them, track them down at their work or school (actually, you don't need to do that). Spread the word on your social media (remember, use #knightpride).

Does my Day of Giving gift count toward my annual gift?

Absolutely!

Is my gift tax-deductible?

All gifts to BMHS are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. BMHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our Tax Exempt ID# is 95-2005811. For specific tax questions, please consult with your tax advisor and/or tax return preparer.

What if I have any other questions?
