Dr. Lauren Guerra
About me
Dr. Guerra is from Los Angeles, California and has taught over a decade. She is Guatemalan-Ecuadorian American and very proud of her heritage. She is an active Roman Catholic who enjoys going to mass weekly. She has three dogs who she loves very much. When she is not teaching, she is travelling around the world. She has many trips planned in the coming months. Her favorite place to visit is Spain. Ultimately, she loves teaching theology and has a passion for the subject.
Philosophy of Education
As a Catholic school, theology is a central subject and part of the core curriculum. Dr. Guerra prides herself on her teaching style and making the learning accessible. The Catholic tradition is rich with sacred knowledge and Dr. Guerra is thrilled to share that knowledge with her students. In her Sacraments class for juniors, students will take a deep dive into the seven sacraments. Each of the seven sacraments holds something special for Catholics and for the life of faith. The exploration of the seven sacraments is a pleasure. Finding the significance and holiness of each of the seven sacraments is a part of the process. She encourages students to ask deeper questions and work through problems as a way to sharpen their skills. Although many of the students are Catholic, digging into the theological aspects of their faith is an adventure. Often time Catholic students are surprised by all of the theological knowledge that they did not know. Students walk away with knowledge and a stronger sense of faith.
