Course Outline & Policies
Course Objectives

Develop a comprehensive understanding of Psychology, including its origins, major schools of thought, key concepts, influential figures, and its evolution to the present day.

Be able to research, discuss, and apply psychological concepts.
- Engage in reflection on course material, fostering discussions about psychological principles and their impact on individuals and society.

Create opportunities to understand and apply psychological theories in various contexts.
- Teach life skills that will help you succeed in college and beyond including how to read critically, write effectively, and work cooperatively on a variety of topics.
Class Policies
- Textbook- Psychology 2e, Spielman, Rose M., Jenkins, William J., Marilyn D. Lovett, (Open Stacks)
- Notebook for this class only (If using chrome books for notes, loose leaf paper is required.)
- Needed for each class: Textbook, chrome book, notebook, paper, and writing utensils (must have red pen for corrections in class).
- Late work: 50% off for late homework 0% if it is submitted a week late, 20% per day will be deducted for project and papers. In case of an absence, assignment/homework is due the day after you return.
Late and Absent assignments should be submitted on canvas. Please email me after you have completed absent work. The subject line must include the name of the assignment and your class period or you will not be given full credit. - Makeup tests: Students are required to take makeup tests within two days of an excused absence. Tests not made up will be marked as a zero. Arrangements must be made for prolonged illnesses.
- Be prepared for class when the bell rings. Students must be in their seats prior to the bell ringing with assignments out and prepared to take notes. As noted in the handbook, students who do not have their book in class will lose participation points. Students will also lose participation points for excessive requests to leave the classroom. Late passes will only be accepted from your counselor, not any of the other counselors. If you need to be out of my class, come to me for approval.
- All school cheating, discipline, attendance, dress and gum chewing policies will be in effect.
- Cell phones will be placed in the phone pouch at the beginning of the period. Cell phone use is prohibited during class time.
We may watch movies with a PG-13 rating, if you do not want your student watching such content please email me.

Grading
Current class grades can be found on Aeries. Canvas will not include test scores.
Grades will be based on the following point system:
Homework and classwork assignments 5-20 pts
Tests and Final 50-400 pts
Participation up to 50 pts per grading period.
Quizzes 10-25 pts
Essay/Projects 25-50 pts
AP EXAM- if you arrive late or miss the exam you will not be allowed to makeup the exam, the College Board does not issue refunds. If you are not planning on taking the ap test you will need to opt out by the date found on the school calendar. If you do not opt out you will be charged for a test. There will be no refunds issued after the opt out date.
