Boys' Basketball Completes Historic Season

Torrance, CA (March 18, 2013): The Bishop Montgomery boys' basketball team completed an historic season on Saturday when they dropped a tough game to Pacific Hills, 73-69, in the State Southern California Division IV Regional Finals at Colony High School in Ontario.

Despite the loss, the Knights completed the season with the most wins in program history and, along the way, provided the school and its fans with many memorable moments and accomplishments.

- Finished 32-2 on the year and a perfect 8-0 in the Del Rey League en route to the league title;
- Completed the regular season undefeated;
- Won all three tournaments they entered: Westchester Trevor Ariza Classic, Mission Prep Christmas Classic, and the Redondo Tournament;
- Head Coach Doug Mitchell won his 500th game at BMHS;
- Defeated teams from five different states: California, Colorado, Washington, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee;
- Defeated Southern California powers Westchester, St. John Bosco, and Serra (three times);
- Ranked as high as #3 in the nation and #2 in the state (final polls are not out yet);
- Two players signed Division I letters-of-intent: Lamond Murray, Jr. '13 (Pepperdine) and Stefan Jovanovic '13 (Hawaii);
- Three more seniors expected to sign Division I letters-of-intent.

The basketball coaches and student-athletes would like to thank all the students, current parents, past parents, alumni, and friends who came out to support the team this year. Not only were the home crowds great this year, but many people came out to support the team on the road. The support on Facebook and Twitter was amazing as well. "THANK YOU FANS!!!!"
