Torrance, CA (May 29, 2021): Bishop Montgomery's boys' and girls' swimmers, under the guidance of head coach Amy Traxler, had an impressive day in the pool in today's CIF-SS Division 4 finals held at Rancho Santa Margarita High School. In fact, it turned out to be an historic day for BMHS Swimming.
In all, four boys and four girls qualified in various events in the finals. On the boys' side, Davide Ciuffoli '23, Patrick Melia '21, Jack O'Shaughnessy '24 and Eric Zhou '24 led the Knights to a 3rd overall finish. On the girls' side, Brianna Davis '22, Noelle Kondon '22, Makena Nansen '23 and Micaela Toland '22 helped the girls to a 5th place finish.
The highlight of the day came early in the meet, as the boys' 200 medley relay team (Ciuffoli, Melia, O'Shaughnessy & Zhou - pictured above) finished 1st and claimed the school's first CIF title in a swimming event. The quartet swam the race in a time of 1:45.17, which set a new school record. To watch the race, click here.
