Bishop eSports Team Runner-Up in California Cup

Torrance, CA (June 8, 2020): Congratulations to our League of Legends eSports team on their 2nd place finish in the Spring 2020 CIF eSports California Cup tournament this weekend. The team, captained by Corey Mostero '21 and coached by Brian Adams, finished the Spring 2020 season with an impressive 11-1 record. The team's dominating record continued through the opening brackets of the CA Cup, competing against over 155 teams.

In the semifinal round of the CA Cup, Bishop Montgomery met up against Clayton Valley Charter High School and advanced to the finals with a 2-1 victory. In the championship round of the tournament, BMHS lost 2-0 to Sunny Hills High School, finishing as the second-best League of Legends team in California high school eSports. The runner-up finish earned BMHS and the eSports team over $3,000 worth of equipment and prizes.

We are thankful to the CIF for supporting eSports, PlayVS for hosting and organizing the tournament, and all the eSports sponsors (NVIDIA, OMEN, HyperX, and the United States Marine Corps). Congratulations to the team for all of their hard work, sportsmanship, impressive strategy, and game play. BMHS will be back next season for another attempt at the title.
