PlayVS Chooses BMHS' eSports for Promo

December 9, 2019 (Torrance, CA): Bishop recently hosted PlayVS on campus and let the eSports leader visit with and observe our eSports team in action. PlayVS, the primary eSports competition platform, oversees league structure, organizes matches, and develops each  season's formats for high school digital gaming teams across the U.S.

PlayVS wanted to explore eSports at BMHS and capture firsthand experiences, testimonials, and footage of our Knights playing Rocket League (one of the primary games), for their marketing and promotional materials. As one of the first, largest, and very successful high school eSports programs, BMHS was the perfect environment for the company to see digital gaming in action and speak candidly with the athletes behind the computer screens.

Armed with pizza for our players and eight gaming keyboards to donate for BMHS gamers or future tournament prizes, PlayVS spent the afternoon interviewing students and coaches and capturing footage for their digital media. The afternoon was so successful that the industry leader also invited two of our faculty coaches to join their team as eSports ambassadors, to help get new eSports programs up and running on other high school campuses across Southern California and the United States.

PlayVS' visit was a great finale to Bishop's first eSports season. With strong finishes across all league games including League of Legends, Rocket League, and Smite, our Knights head into playoffs, first with competitors in the California league and then potentially on a national forum. After playoffs, the team will rest up and prep for the eSports spring league which begins in March 2020!
