Graphic Design

Graphic Design is a computer/art course that introduces students to the graphics design field. Students will develop skills in manipulating text and images. They will be given various design problems and will explore solutions for them. Exposure to contemporary design issues and graphic design history will increase students’ visual literacy. Students will increase their proficiency in all areas of the design process. This includes the application of formal design principles, type as image, creative brainstorming, conceptualizing, critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation. Students will learn basic skills in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. These programs are the standards used in the graphic design field today. They will also learn to take digital photos and manage them on a computer. At the end of the course, students will have a design portfolio which will be critiqued and evaluated.
