Hello, my name is Beverly Hazell and I was born and raised in West Torrance where I attended West Torrance High School just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Bishop Montgomery.
After graduating from West Torrance High School I attended El Camino College where my father is a faculty member and has been since 1979. After my two years at El Camino I transferred with honors as Athlete of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the year. I received a Div. 1 scholarship to SUNY, Albany to play volleyball. I would later transfer to finish out my collegiate career at Cal State University, East Bay. After graduation I would enroll in the Masters program where I have completed the course work to obtain my Masters Degree in history. Recently, I completed a Credentialing program at Cal State, Dominguez Hills where I earned my single-subject teaching credential. Prior to working at Bishop, I worked for the Torrance Unified School District as a long term substitute. I took my first coaching job when I was a senior in high school and I have been running the West Torrance girls volleyball team since 2016. I am also the co-director of a volleyball club in the area and have been coaching for the club volleyball for the last 10 years.
I teach US history, Honors US history, and Honors World history. I am also the moderator of the Key Club.
The syllabus for my courses are attached below.
