Cameron Olsen '15 Inks Music Deal with RCA Records

Torrance, CA (April 5, 2016): Cameron Olsen, lead guitarist for the alternative-rock/pop band Weathers, has announced a deal for his band with RCA Records. Olsen, who graduated from Bishop Montgomery in May 2015, enrolled at the University of California, Irvine this fall, and began working toward his bachelor’s degree while also pursuing a career in music. According to Olsen, almost immediately after matriculating to UCI, Weathers “started getting attention from different record labels in the music industry.” Choosing to make a “leap of faith,” Olsen took a leave of absence from his college studies and decided to focus strictly on his music, spending hours in the studio writing and recording with his bandmates.

Their efforts have paid off and, after trips back and forth to New York City for meetings at multiple record labels, Weathers has signed with RCA. RCA Records, currently the number one label for alternative music, represents a variety of renowned artists including Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, and Cage the Elephant. Industry insiders compare Weathers’ catchy guitar-rifts, strong vocals, and 80’s inspired production to current chart-topping bands like Passion Pit and Walk the Moon. Their 2015 showcases and collaborations within the music industry have helped their ascent into the realms of international music stardom.

Weathers, was formed in 2013 under the moniker Signal City. The group features lead vocalist Cameron Boyer, lead guitarist Cameron Olsen, bassist Brennan Bates, and drummer Cole Carson. Recent ventures include songwriting for the award-winning independent feature film Mary Loss of Soul (one song used in the movie ending / closing credits, the second in a movie trailer), an onstage duet with Apl.De.Ap from the Black-Eyed Peas, and a National Anthem performance at the Staples Center for a March 2015 Los Angeles Lakers game. The band has also played numerous shows-- many sold-out-- at venues throughout the country and in Los Angeles, their hometown, including The Club Nokia, Troubadour, and the Long Beach Convention Center. The band is currently writing and recording their debut album with plans to release its first single under the RCA label in the coming months.
