Bishop Students Enjoy "La Belle Vie" in Paris

During Bishop's recent spring break, twenty students from our French program headed to France for a week-long stay in Paris. Led by faculty chaperones and world language teachers, Kelly Tutko-Marin and Linda Reano, the student group took in all of the sites and scenery of one of the world’s most famous cities.

While in Paris, the students visited most of the city’s famous landmarks including the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Palace of Versailles, the Arc de Triomphe, the Cathédrale de Chartres, and the Cathédrale de Notre Dame. Shopping on the Champs-Elysées was also an important part of the itinerary. One highlight of the trip was the ascent to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Despite rainy weather, the students savored the moment from atop the tower, using the opportunity to take a multitude of photos and admire the city views. Another highlight included lunch at the popular French restaurant, Bouillon Chartier, complete with multiple courses and a traditional escargot appetizer.

The students were thrilled to be immersed in the Parisian culture, with opportunities to practice their French and learn more about the country and people they have been studying. Moreover, they were excited for the authenticity of the experience-- to be part of the Paris landscape and observe everyday details of city life. From people-watching at Parisian cafés, to early morning jogs through the streets, to a boat cruise on the Seine, the students thoroughly enjoyed every moment of their adventure abroad. “It’s a beautiful city. It was like walking in a painting… very artistic and historic,” shares senior Rebecca Mussman.
