Torrance, CA (December 17, 2014): Bishop Montgomery's Concordia Club, the longest running service club on campus, has had an active Christmas season this year. Under the direction of moderator and Spanish teacher Laura Fabbri, the students have been busy both planning and executing several projects and events.
Since mid-October, Concordia students have been involved in their "Adopt an Orphan" program for Christmas. Through this program, Concordia Club "adopted" over 90 orphaned children and very poor children who live near “Casa Hogar Santa Maria de Guadalupe” orphanage in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico. Club students organized and gathered gifts for the children. Sister Margaret (pictured with children from the orphanage) from the Covenant House, along with volunteers, took the presents across the border in early December. (Concordia Club students are pictured with the gifts they gathered).
On December 6, Concordia Club members helped serve at Bishop Montgomery's annual Mothers' Club Luncheon held in the Student Activity Center. Over 45 students served lunch to approximately 240 people who attended the luncheon.
