Omarr Smith '95 Makes Arena Football Hall of Fame

Torrance, CA (August 11, 2014): Former Bishop Montgomery football standout Omarr Smith '95 will be enshrined into the Arena Football League Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2014. The announcement was made yesterday during the league's National Conference Championship game.

Smith, a defensive specialist, is a four-time ArenaBowl champion as a player and he holds the record for most career ArenaBowl tackles. He has also won two championships as a coach.

Smith played most of his career for the San Jose SaberCats (2000-2002, 2004-2008). While there, he won three titles (2002, 2004, 2007). He also played one season with the Tampa Bay Storm (2003) and led them to an ArenaBowl championship. 

From 2011-13, Smith served as the Defensive Coordinator of the Arizona Rattlers, helping them win titles in 2012 and 2013. He is currently the Assistant Head Coach for San Jose.

Prior to the Arena League, Smith played at San Jose State where he notched 13 career interceptions, 2nd most in school history. At Bishop Montgomery, Smith was a 3-time all-league selection and 2-time Daily Breeze All-Area selection in football. As a senior, he had 45 catches for 594 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. He also excelled in basketball and on the track for the Knights.
