Jones '09 Hopeful for NFL Draft

Torrance, CA (May 8, 2014): The 2014 NFL Draft, which begins today, could have special meaning for one Bishop Montgomery alumnus. Chandler Jones '09, who just completed an All-American senior season at San Jose State, has appeared on many draft projections as a potential late-round pick.

After an outstanding career at Bishop Montgomery on both the football field and the track, Jones found his way to San Jose State, where he walked on his freshman year before earning a scholarship. By the time his career at San Jose State was over, he was one of the most decorated receivers in school history. In 2013, he set a single-season school record by catching 15 touchdown passes and he became the only receiver in university history to catch at least 50 passes in each of his four seasons. The Si.com honorable mention All-American led the Spartans with 79 receptions for 1,356 yards as a senior.

Jones completed his career sharing or holding six San Jose State single-game, season, and career records. He is also in the NCAA record books for scoring a touchdown three different ways in one game (rushing, receiving, fumble return in a 2011 win at Hawaii).

The NFL Draft runs from May 8-10 and is televised on ESPN and The NFL Network.
