Torrance, CA (December 13, 2013): Bishop Montgomery alumnus Cmdr. Leif Mollo '88 was recently honored by the United States Navy with the prestigious 2013 Vice Adm. James Bond Stockdale Leadership Award. The award is "presented annually to two commissioned officers on active duty...who are serving in command of a single unit and who serve as examples of excellence in leadership and conspicuous contribution to the improvement of leadership in the Navy."

Mollo, a 1992 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, was presented the award after serving as the commanding officer of Navy SEAL Team EIGHT during a time of great change. Later, Mollo was hand-selected to assume command of SEAL Team FOUR following the death of the team's previous commanding officer two months into the team's combat tour in Afghanistan.
