In Memoriam - Shirley Forsythe

Torrance, CA (July 9, 2013): Shirley Forsythe, the mother of two Bishop Montgomery alumni and the manager of the BMHS student snack bar for 18 years before retiring in 2006, lost her battle with cancer on July 5, 2013.

For many alumni at Bishop Montgomery, Shirley will be remembered for the homemade chocolate chip cookies she served at the snack bar during break. The cookies were always warm and freshly baked. Students and faculty looked forward to them every day.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, son Robert Forsythe '81, daughter Cynthia Forsythe-DeLay '92 (who is also a science teacher at BMHS); 3 grandchildren; 6 siblings; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Rice Mortuary in Torrance (adjacent to BMHS) on July 11 from 5-9pm with a Rosary at 7pm. A funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hermosa Beach on July 12 at 2pm. Internment will be private.
