Torrance, CA (June 7, 2013): Bishop Montgomery baseball standout Mitch Pruitt '14, a senior-to-be, has been invited to the Milwaukee Brewers Area Code team tryouts July 8-9 at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. The Brewers team is comprised of players from southern California.
The New Balance Area Code Games is an elite baseball event held each year in August at Long Beach State's Blair Field. At the games, the top players from around the country will be on the field at the same time being evaluated by scouts from all 30 Major League teams and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau. Additionally, college coaches from around the country will be in attendance.
Pruitt, who will be a four-year varsity starter, was a 1st Team All-Del Rey League selection this past season for the Knights. He was used primarily as a shortstop, but also spent some time behind the plate. The Knights' lead-off hitter batted .316 with one home run, 8 RBI, 6 doubles, 24 hits, and 21 runs scored. Pruitt was a 2nd Team All-Del Rey League selection as a sophomore.
