Shanahan Caps Prep Career at State Track Meet

Torrance, CA (June 3, 2013): Bishop Montgomery senior runner Danielle Shanahan '13 capped a brilliant prep career this past weekend at the California State Track Championships held in Clovis. Shanahan finished 4th in both events in which she competed, the 1600m and 3200m.

In the 1600m finals, Shanahan posted a personal-best time of 4:49.71. Not only was it a personal best, but she broke the school record which she already held.

Later that night, Shanahan went out and posted a strong time of 10:26.54 to finish 4th in the 3200m final. (She also holds the school record in the 3200m at 10:25.40).

For Shanahan, the state final was another highlight to an already fantastic career. She was the individual league cross country champion in 2010 and 2012 and a state finalist in 2009, 2010, and 2012. This fall, she became the first runner in school history, male or female, to win an individual cross country title when she won the 2012 Division IV championship.

This year on the track in the spring, she was the Del Rey League champion in both the 1600m and the 3200m. She placed 2nd in the 1600m at the CIF Finals and she was the CIF Champion in the 3200m. In addition, she holds the school record in both events.
