Torrance, CA (May 3, 2013): Bishop Montgomery's golf golf team captured their 3rd straight league title and qualified for the CIF playoffs. The Knights are 17-4 overall and finished a perfect 9-0 in the Camino Real League.
This week at league finals, held at Griffith Park's two courses (Wilson and Harding), Bishop Montgomery golfers took 3 of the top 4 spots in the individual matches. The top four individuals qualify for CIF playoffs.
Senior Michael Rodriguez '13 (pictured) finished 2nd overall with a 2-day total of 147. He was followed by senior Dean Billings '13, who shot a 149 to finished 3rd.

The competition to finish 4th (and earn the final automatic CIF berth) came down to a playoff between two BMHS golfers, junior Brennan Delahanty '14 and freshman Scott von Kanel '16. In an exciting playoff, von Kanel won on the 5th playoff hole to qualify for the CIF individual playoffs.
For their showing at league finals, Rodriguez, Billings, von Kanel, and Delahanty were all named to the all-league first team. They were joined on the first team by junior Chase Bennett '14 (who shot a 2-day total of 159) and senior Joey Bruccoleri '13 (160).
