Torrance, CA (March 5, 2013): The Bishop Montgomery community recently lost a loved one when Santa Cruz police detective Beth Butler, BMHS Class of 1992, was killed in the line of duty on February 26, 2013. Butler was a 10-year veteran of the Santa Cruz Police Department and she leaves behind two sons, Joaquin, 5, and Stellan, 2.
At Bishop Montgomery's Black & Gold Gala this Saturday, March 9, one of our live auction items is a one-week stay at a beautiful vacation home on the McKenzie River in Oregon (click on the pdf below for more information). Donated by "the John Hyland Family, BMHS Class of 1968," 100% of the winning bid on this item will be donated to a fund for Butler's sons in memory of their mother.
In addition to the proceeds from the winning bid, Bishop Montgomery is accepting donations to add to the fund for Joaquin and Stellan. If you would like to make a gift to this fund in memory of Beth Butler '92, please make checks payable to The Beth Butler Memorial Fund.
