Boys' Basketball Moves Up in National Rankings

Torrance, CA (January 14, 2013): The Bishop Montgomery boys' basketball team, coached by Doug Mitchell, is continuing to climb the national rankings after a huge week for the Knights.

On Wednesday, the Knights opened Del Ry League play with a 77-44 win at Bishop Amat. But that was just the beginning of the week.

On Friday, BMHS traveled to rival Serra for a league showdown. The Knights, who had not won at Serra since 2007, took a 26-23 lead into halftime before dominating the Cavaliers in the 2nd half, limiting them to 11 points and winning 58-34.

On Saturday, the Knights traveled to nationally-ranked St. John Bosco for a non-league game. Bosco entered the game ranked 14th in the country, one spot behind BMHS. The Knights received 23 points and 8 rebounds from senior Ognjen Miljkovic '13 and 18 points and 10 rebounds from senior Lamond Murray, Jr. '13 in their 74-63 win over St. John Bosco.

On Monday (January 14) MaxPreps' new Xcellent 25 national rankings came out with Bishop Montgomery moving up to #8 in the country. Click here for complete rankings.

The Knights are now 19-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Del Rey League
