Two BMHS Students Graduate from LAPD Cadet Program

Torrance, CA (December 17, 2012): On Sunday, December 16, two Bishop Montgomery students, senior Daniel Snearl '13 and junior Amanda Cazarez '14, graduated from the Los Angeles Police Department Cadet Program at a ceremony held at USC's Galen Center. The cadet program is an 18-week long program in which students study law enforcement and learn the values of integrity and teamwork through classroom work and physical fitness. To complete the program, cadets must pass a written final exam as well as a physical fitness test.

Snearl, a senior, is a  member of the inaugural cadet program through the Los Angeles Airport Police Department. He is planning on studying criminal justice in college (San Jose State University is his top choice), and he hopes to one day become a police officer or work for the FBI. "I really enjoy investigative work," explained Snearl when asked why he was in the cadet program.

Cazarez, a junior, completed her cadet training through the program in Culver City. Like Snearl, she plans to study criminal justice at a college close to home and her ultimate goal is to work for the FBI. Although she has graduated from the cadet program, Cazarez plans to stay in the program to gain more experience and learn more about law enforcement. "You can stay in the program until you are 20 [years old], which I plan to do," she explains.

Congratulations to Daniel and Amanda for all their hard work and for their commitment to serving their communities.
