Girls' Soccer Ties South Torrance

Torrance, CA (December 6, 2012): Bishop Montgomery forged its second straight impressive tie to start the season with a 2-2 nonleague tie over visiting South Torrance.

Madeleine Simones '15 scored the equalizer in the 70th minute off a Bryce Watts '14 pass for Bishop Montgomery. Natalie DiAngelo '15 had scored in the 36th minute off a Tatiana Zuvic '14 pass that also tied it 1-1 for Bishop Montgomery, which had a 0-0 tie against Mira Costa to its credit.

Bishop Montgomery also was forced to turn to freshman goalkeeper Gillian Miles '16, who made three saves in place of Becky Sepulveda '13, who is out indefinitely due to a mild immune deficiency.

South used a fifth-minute goal from Jessica Nakae and a 36th-minute goal from Kylie Diekmann. Amanda Whittle and Kori Bozart had the assists for South, which was coming off a strong tie at Quartz Hill the previous night.

Both teams are 0-0-2.
