Girls' Volleyball Battles to the End in CIF Playoffs

Torrance, CA (November 14, 2012): The Lady Knights' volleyball team came into their CIF-SS Division 1A semi-final match last night against La Salle as the underdog, but they sure did not play like a team expected to lose.

The Lady Knights (22-14) proved to be a tough foe for fellow Del Rey League rival La Salle (33-2). In front of an energetic Bishop Montgomery crowd, the Lady Knights lost in a thrilling five-set match 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 16-25, 15-12. 

In the critical fourth set, the Lady Knights went down 7-0 early before rallying to win the set and force a game five. In the final set, the Lady knights once again fell behind early, 10-3, before making another comeback, cutting the deficit to 13-11. 

The Lady Knights received an outstanding and inspired effort from the entire squad. Leading the way was outside hitter and University of Alabama-signee Bria Green '13 (pictured) with 20 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Senior Juliette McCall '13 added 9 kills, many of which came in big situations and junior blocker Ashley Murray '14 added five kills and six blocks.

Senior setter Denice Belandres '13 added 36 assists and nine digs while sophomore libero Taylor Rudeen '15 had 19 digs.
