Junior High Night is a Huge Success

Torrance, CA (November 7, 2012): On Friday, November 2, 2012 Bishop Montgomery High School hosted close to 100 local junior high school students at the final regular season football game of the season against Verbum Dei. At “Junior High Night,” the young guests were invited to come early and watch the Knights in their pre-game warm-ups from sidelines. Many students even got the chance to meet some of the players and coaches.

Following warm-ups, students helped the BMHS song team form the “tunnel” for the football team to run through just before kick-off and a few lucky students were chosen to be honorary captains for the coin toss. “It was great to see so many junior high school students enjoying themselves on campus,” said Andy Marafino, BMHS Director of Marketing & Public Relations. “They helped bring some great energy to the football team for their final regular season game.”

The night was a huge success, not only in the turn-out of junior high students, but on the field as well. The Knights defeated Verbum Dei 42-6 to finish the regular season 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Del Rey League. The Knights clinched second place in league and a trip to the CIF-SS Northwest Division playoffs.

The junior high students represented a variety of local South Bay schools: American Martyrs, Annalee School, Bert Lynn Middle School, Carnegie Middle School, Dana Middle School, Gardena Valley Christian, Holy Trinity, Notre Dame Academy Elementary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Riviera Hall Lutheran, South Bay Faith Academy, St. Catherine Laboure, St. James, St. John Fisher, St. Joseph, St. Lawrence Martyr, St. Margaret Mary, St. Sebastian, View Park Prep, Visitation, and Wilders Prep.
