Torrance, CA (November 5, 2012): Four of Bishop Montgomery's fall sports teams, Football, Girls' Volleyball and Boys' and Girls' Cross Country, begin CIF-SS playoffs this week with first round games.
Girls' Volleyball
On Tuesday, November 6, the girls' volleyball team will begin their quest for a CIF-SS 1A title when they travel to Estancia HS for their first round match beginning at 7:00pm. The Lady Knights, coached by Kevin Norman, are making their 31st consecutive trip to the playoffs in their program's illustrious history. The Lady Knights are led by Alabama-bound hitter Bria Green '13.

UPDATE: The Lady Knights (20-13) beat Estancia HS in straight sets in their 1st round match, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18. Bria Green '13 had 21 kills and 13 digs to lead the Lady Knights. The team was also sparked by the return of junior Ashley Murray '14, who had been out for most of the season due to an injury. Murray had 8 kills and 4 blocks. Senior Denice Belandres '13 had 31 assists and 10 digs.
UPDATE: The Lady Knights beat Thousand Oaks in straight sets, 25-13, 25-13, 25-22 to advance to the CIF-SS 1A quaterfinals vs. Anaheim Canyon on Saturday at 7:00pm at BMHS.
UPDATE: The Lady Knights advanced to the CIF semi-finals by beating Canyon HS (Anaheim) on Saturday. They will take on La Salle at home at 7:00pm on Tuesday.

The Knights are making their third straight trip to the playoffs under head coach Ed Hodgkiss. BMHS opens the CIF-SS Northwest Division playoffs on Friday when they host Village Christian at 7:00pm The Knights are led by junior quarterback Louie Soto '14 and the running back tandem of Michael Turner '13 and Robbie Hou '14.

Senior Danielle Shanahan '13, one of the top runners in Division IV, will run in the CIF-SS Prelims on Saturday, November 10 at Mt. SAC. Race time is 11:15am.
