Carmelita Jeter '98 Wins Olympic Gold and Sets New World Record

Torrance, CA (August 10, 2012): BMHS alumna Carmelita Jeter '98 anchored the women's 4x100m relay team that won the gold medal at the London Olympics today. The U.S. relay team also set a new world record in the event by running 40.82.

The U.S. team consisted of Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight, and Jeter. The old record was 41.37 set 27 years ago. (How appropriate that someone named Knight passed the baton to Jeter!)
