Senior Catherynn Vuong '12 Receives Early Admission to Stanford

On what seemed like just another night, BMHS senior Catherynn Vuong '12 received the news she had been waiting years to hear. Checking her email one more time before going to bed, Catherynn saw a message in her inbox with her new student ID number and a welcome to Stanford. Though Catherynn wasn't expecting to hear from Stanford for another week, she was thrilled with the news and immediately called her sister Carolynn, currently a junior at Stanford, to share the excitement.

Catherynn, the youngest of three girls, will most likely accept Stanford's offer and head to Palo Alto in the fall. Looking to major in biology, Catherynn hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, possibly as a cardiac surgeon. Catherynn’s oldest sister, Cassidy, is a 2005 BMHS alumnus who graduated from Stanford in 2009 with a degree in psychology. Cassidy is currently in medical school at UC Irvine.

Each year, Stanford receives over 36,000 applications for freshman admissions and awards early acceptance to approximately 750. Catherynn was one of  the 5,880 students this year who applied for early acceptance and joins the 12.7% who were offered the elite admission status.
