The fires that continue to rage through our beautiful Southern California this past week require us to take pause. The response from students, parents, teachers, and alumni reaching out and asking how they can help is a reflection of the virtue of generosity within our Christ-centered community. After talking to several relief organizations to assess their needs, what is needed most right now is funds to purchase items- large and small- to help those who are in most direct need. We want to provide aid where it is needed most.
On Thursday, January 16, we will have a Denim Day to support those affected by the fires as well as those who risk their lives to provide help and support. All funds collected will be donated to the ADLA Wildfire Victims Emergency Relief Fund. Funds are being collected on behalf of all of the service clubs here on campus: The American Red Cross Club, Concordia, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Campus Ministry.
If families, alumni and friends would like to donate, please do so here
From BMHS President Patrick Lee:
“At Bishop Montgomery High School, our mission calls us to live out our Catholic identity through service and compassion. In light of the devastating SoCal wildfires this week, we invite our school community to come together in prayer and action to support those affected.”
From BMHS Principal Dr. Michele Starkey:
“As wildfires continue to impact our neighbors in Los Angeles, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to care for one another as Christ calls us to do. Our hearts are with the individuals and families who have been displaced or are facing uncertainty, and we lift up in prayer the courageous first responders who are risking their lives to protect our communities.”
