January 6, 2023:
Last night, at the BMHS Football Awards Ceremony, senior Jayden Thomas '23 received the prestigious Brandon Burlsworth Character Award, which honors high school football players for their character and sportsmanship.

Burlsworth was an offensive lineman at the University of Arkansas who went from a walk-on to an All-American. After college, he was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. Shortly after the draft, Burlsworth was killed in a car accident. His family started a foundation to honor his legacy and recognize young men who carry the same qualities as Brandon.

Thomas, a 2-year starter for the Knights, was named 2nd Team All-League in 2022 and was the recipient of the George Swade Coaches Award. Thomas is also a scholar-athlete, carrying a GPA of 4.0 or higher during the season. When not at school, Thomas spends his time working with a neighbor who has cerebral palsy, something he has done throughout his high school years.
