Torrance, CA (March 16, 2022)
: Yesterday, senior pitchers Chase Couig '22 (above left) and Andrew Morales '22 combined to no-hit Cantwell-Sacred Heart in a 2-1 Del Rey League win for Bishop Montgomery.

The top of the first started off ominously as Couig hit the first two batters and walked the number three hitter to load the bases with no outs. He got the next hitter to ground into a double play as a run scored. He then picked the runner off of 3B to end the inning.

Couig settled in after the first inning to keep Cantwell off the board. Couig went 6 innings, walking 2 and striking out 3 batters.

In the top of the seventh inning, Morales came on the pitch and walked the first two batters he faced. He quickly settled down, striking out two batters sandwiched between a ground out to get the save and complete the no-hitter for BMHS.

The Knights took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when senior Kyle Sugimoto '22 hit a 2-run home run to center.

It was the 23rd no-hitter in school history. The last no-hitter, coincidentally, was also a combined no-hitter in 2015.
