Class of 2021 Athletes and Sportsman/Sportswoman of the Year Announced

We are proud to announce the recipients of the annual Male and Female Athlete of the Year and Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards for the Class of 2021. These outstanding student-athletes represented Bishop Montgomery with pride.

Class of 2021 Male Athlete of the Year / Patrick Melia '21
Patrick had an outstanding season in the pool for the boys' swim team. He helped the boys capture the team league championship and he captured the league title in two individual events (100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke) and two relay events (200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay. To cap off a great season, he helped the 200 medley relay team to the school's first CIF-SS title, anchoring the team in a school-record time of 1:45.17. He attends the United States Maritime Academy in New York and intends to compete for the swim team.

Class of 2021 Female Athlete of the Year / Khylee Pepe '21
Khylee completed an excellent high school career for the Lady Knights in 2020-21. She was named 1st Team All-Del Rey League for the third year in a row and was named 1st Team All-CIF-SS (Division I). It was her third straight season being named All-CIF-SS. She led the Lady Knights in scoring on the 2020-21 season, averaging 14.8 ppg. She also led the team in rebounds with 8.1 rpg and she had 3.3 assists per game. she signed a letter-of-intent with San Diego State to continue her basketball career in college.

Class of 2021 Sportsman of the Year / Carter Jacobus '21

Carter turned in an outstanding season for the boys' soccer team in 2020-21. He led the Knights in scoring with 6 goals and following the season, he was named 1st Team All-Del Rey League and 2nd Team Daily Breeze All-Area. He signed a letter-of-intent with UC San Diego where he currently plays for the men's soccer team.

Class of 2021 Sportswoman of the Year / Rianna Escobar '21
Rianna had an excellent career for BMHS in both cross country and girls' basketball. On the basketball court, she was a valuable member of Del Rey League championship teams as both a junior and a senior. She was also an excellent runner for the girls' cross country team in the fall. She was an outstanding student all four years at BMHS and currently attends UC Berkeley.
