Peter Rocca '17 Shedding Light on Water Crisis in Central California

Rocca Football

Torrance, CA (January 25, 2021):
Throughout his days at Bishop Montgomery, alumnus Peter Rocca '17 was a helper and a protector. For three seasons, he was a starting offensive tackle for the varsity football team. Every practice and every game, his job was to protect the quarterback and make sure that his teammates were safe. Rocca took great pride in his role on the team, and he was quite good at his job. He was an all-league selection as a junior and he was a member of two South Catholic League championships teams for the Knights.

It is no surprise that he has continued to be a helper and a protector as a film student at UC Santa Barbara. Rocca is currently directing a documentary for one of his production classes at UCSB. The documentary, Unfiltered: California's Rural Water Crisis, aims to shed light on the water crisis currently happening in California's Central Valley. He and his crew aim to to give a voice to people who may not have one and they are raising funds to help in their filming of the documentary. "The residents [of the Central Valley] don't have access to water and their voices must be heard," says Rocca. "We hope that this documentary will shed light on to the situation that underrepresented Californians face."

If you are interested in supporting the project, visit their Venmo page @Unfilteredfilm2021. "If people choose to donate, they should know that the funds will go towards research, securing interviews, and keeping us safe on set," says Rocca via email.
