Torrance, CA (December 21, 2020): Bishop Montgomery alumnus Jason Estrada '03 recently had his short film, "The Sand Route," selected for the Independent Shorts Awards (ISA) 2020 film festival.

The film, directed by Estrada and Jeanette Egenlauf, represents a road less travelled and the road taken by Estrada "to shift the status quo from what it means to be born and raised in Compton to eventually becoming an entrepreneur and owning the #1 private gym in the world."

The landmarks in the film are in Compton, where Estrada grew up, and were once known for negativity. His film aims to "redefine these landmarks to represent a childlike ambition where endless possibilities and positive outcomes can prosper."

The ISA's is an international film festival with monthly live screenings and an annual live screening and awards event in Hollywood. Projects are judged by a random team of invited experts from academia and the film industry.
