Letter from Campus Ministry

Dear Bishop Montgomery Community,

There is a lot of need for prayer right now around the world. Prayer in its simplest form is talking to God. We understand that these are challenging times and may lead to a range of emotions within our students. We want to make sure they have an outlet to sort out what they are going through and experiencing. Please know the Choices Counseling office and Campus Ministry office are available for students.

We ask our community that in addition to prayer we have other conversations. We need to extend the talking to our families, our friends, and those in our community. One cannot simply turn a blind eye to injustice toward anyone. If you have been following morning prayer online, the past few days our readings have held a lot of power to speak to what is going on.

This Sunday we celebrated Pentecost. It was during this feast that Jesus promised the disciples that they would not be left alone and the Holy Spirit was sent. The disciples were sent out to make disciples of all nations. May we now pray that the Holy Spirit help light the fire within us to share the message of love for our neighbor to all.

On Monday we heard a reading from 1 Corinthians 12 that stated, “As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ… so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.”

We are so thankful for the diverse gifts each of our students have and share with one another. We pray for all souls who are working for justice and peace within their communities- from students, parents, teachers, community activists, to those doctors, first responders, and leaders promoting the common good and who take the time to listen. May God bless them and give them the strength and resolve to continue.

Thank you for continuing the dialogue and checking in with your child. You are welcome to check out any of our daily video prayers here:

Please join us by participating in a prayer service led by students that will take place this Friday. It will be posted on social media and the main Bishop webpage. It is a great way to come together and even pray for your child before they begin final exams next week. May God’s peace be with you.

Thank you,
