English 1-9 (Period 5) Assignments

What to study for the final exam in English:

 

   Flash cards defining the 8 literary terms - alliteration, allusion, onomatopoeia,    personification, simile, hyperbole, irony, metaphor.

 

Finish reading the book, To Kill A Mockingbird

Friday is your last chance to donate gifts that did not suit you for homeless teens and adopt a family programs.

Please look in your closet for new or very near new clothes and toys that just don't suit you and bring them to class by this Wednesday.

 

These items will be given to homeless teens -  and the Adopt a Family for Christmas program.

 

Thank you in advance for your generosity and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Read the next 20 pages in the book, To Kill A Mockingbird.

Don't forget to clean your closet and bring in the gifts that did NOT suit you to contribute to homeless teens and adopt a family programs.

50 point TEST over the book, To Kill a Mockingbird.

List everyone involved in the trial; name and job or part in the trial and list all the facts you can find about Dolphus Raymond.

Be prepared to compare Dolphus Raymont to Bob Ewell.

Students are to read chapters 17 & 18 in the novel TKAM over the

Thanksgiving holiday.

Expect a "pop" quiz over those portions of the book.

They should always highlight important events + character info and circle vocabulary words in the story.

Finish reading chapter 14 in TKAM

Update notes: Character updates, Chapter summaries & Vocabulary.

Finish chapters 12 & 13 in the novel TKAM.

 

List character updates, vocabulary and chapter summary to prepare for Monday's test over those chapters..

If you did NOT read all of  the book, TKAM, up to, and including Chapter 11, do so!

List all the facts you know about the characters:

If you were prepared for class today, you only have to address the character Francis.

This assignment is for 1/2 credit for those students who did not prepare for today's quiz!

Lab day -  Update your notes: Character updates, Chapter info + Vocabulary

                 Prepare for a test over the first 3 1/2 chapters of the book TKAM.

Every evening students should update  their cloud notes for TKAM.

 

List character and chapter facts and list vocabulary, context, guess of meaning and actual meaning of the work.

(Students should note up to pg. 31 this evening.)

Notes will be checked at teacher's discretion.

Please bring in individually wrapped candy to donate to the Covenant House and $1 for the Thanksgiving dinners out reach project.

Cloud notes for TKAM will be checked and graded for:

Character list, Chapter Summary, Vocabulary - your guess as to the meaning of the word and the actual definition.

 

Due to "technical difficulties," the Ch. 1 -3 Vocab test will occur on Tuesday.

Read the short story, "The Interlopers" found on pg. 722 in your text.
