Psychology (Period 2) Assignments

Here is your study guide for the final exam which has 150 questions.  You will need two new scantrons and its worth.

 

I will be walking around the room making sure that no one has a cheat sheet -- that would be disappointing and I don't expect it.  

Do well on the exam -- it makes me feel like you learned something...

These are the terms to study very well -- they are going to be helpful but you may not use any kind of notes or cheat sheets for the exam..

These are just the teaching slides but there is a lot more information on these slide than there is on your term sheets.  

Here are the terms for Chapters 9 and 10.  You may make a cheat sheet and color code it for the exam and you will hand it in for points.  

Typed dbl-spaced paper on Navy SEAL training and success.  I will accept the paper through Friday March 21 - unfortunately I am unable to use the Plagiarism Program at this time.  I will need hard copies of each paper.

 

Should be at least 1000-words.  Explain what it takes to be successful, the threshold IQ and what that means as well as how many hours per lifetime / year / week to become an expert in any field and why simply "doing your job" for 10,000-hours does absolutely nothing when it comes to making someone an expert.  Use Goal Setting, Visualization, Self-talk and Arousal Control as examples when discussing "Hell Week" when it comes to goal setting.

Outline Chapters 9 & 10 in your book.  Worth 20-points unless you wow me; then you get extra credit.

Attached you will find the lecture notes for Chapters 9 and 10.  

Take a picture of yourself and cut it in half.  Then paste two right sides together and two left sides together to see if the faces are similar or not.

 

The I Phone has an app or you can use photo shop.  Do it with friends because the first time you do it, it will take 30-minutes and then it is easy and you can do them in 5-minutes...  Don't wait until Thursday night because you won't get it done...

Please bring your Myers Briggs Inventory that has over 70-questions from the link on my website.  Then bring the attached inventory I put together for you.  Finally, go online and Google what you best personality type in a mate is; there will be two of them.  Compare them to your traits and you'll be able to quickly figure out if a person is well-suited to you.

Plan for the Abnormal Psych Exam to be on Thursday; the term sheet will be due on that day as well, but I expect perfection given the extra time you've been given...

This is the term sheet for your test; unfortunately we don't know all the terms yet so expect the test to be given on Thursday.  I'm giving you extra time to learn the material..

I received an email requesting behaviors of Personality Disordered individuals.  Remember that these behaviors are on a continuum so if someone you know well exhibits these from time to time that doesn't make them PD'ed.  ONLY a trained qualified Psychotherapist can diagnose a Personality Disorder -- I'm just teaching you their personality traits so please don't go and diagnose others or self-diagnose.     

Write outline of syllabus and turn in the signed contract.  Follow the instructions and make sure your printer works.  If you don't turn in the work for any reason, you will lose 50% of the grade each day that you are late on it.  

The directions are to re-write the syllabus in outline form using complete sentences; it must be double-spaced and should look perfect.  The contract will be the first page and stapled to the outline - please do NOT turn in my syllabus; its a waste of paper.

 

This is your first work and 1st impressions mean a lot to instructors so show off your ability and make me believe you are brilliant.  

These are the terms needed for the Abnormal Psychology exam.  They are due today, but I will accept them up until the day of the exam and give you full credit.  That means that the terms are not due until the day of the test but if you don't turn them in on or by the day of the test, you'll lose 50%.  I would NEVER ask you to complete a term sheet when I have not taught you the material first.  I just don't want any of you skipping school on the day of the test only because you didn't finish your term sheet.
