Advanced Ceramics
Advanced Ceramics is a year long advanced ceramics course designed for students with one year of clay experience, having passed Introduction to Ceramics with a B or better grade and instructor approval. Students will explore three-dimensional clay design in a greater detail through a variety of creative projects and in-depth, technique-driven assignments. This course is designed to incorporate creating, processing, presenting, and responding to art, giving students a holistic process to art concepts, construction and art exhibition.
Advanced Ceramics students will focus on several disciplines within clay including:
- Hand building (coiling, pinch, mold or slab building)
- Sculpture (additive, subtractive, positive or negative relief)
- Wheel-throwing
This course if taken for the full year fulfills the A-G Visual Arts requirement and BMHS Fine Arts graduation requirement.
