About Ms. Zarro-Anaya

Short Bio:

Ms. Maria Zarro-Anaya has been an educator for over 20 years and comes from a family of educators. Born and raised in this area, she finds a home here at Bishop Montgomery High School teaching sophomore English Language Arts and the Speech & Debate English elective class. During the 20 years of teaching, Ms. Z served students from grades K through 12 in many capacities: She belonged to the Performing & Visual Arts small learning community where she taught drama, speech and debate, voice development, dance, documentary filmmaking, screen- and playwriting, English Literature, Expository writing for seniors, and social science. In addition to Ms. Zarro-Anaya’s academic contributions, Ms. Z was/is an athletic coach for swimming, softball/baseball, soccer, and football.

 

Education:

Ms. Zarro-Anaya is a true Bruin from UCLA (always "eight-clappin'") where she earned her B.A. majoring in English Literature. She holds an A.A. in Economics, and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership & Administration from Concordia University, Irvine, where she concurrently earned her Administrative credential focusing on operations and athletics.

 

Other Tidbits:

Aside from her teaching profession, Ms. Zarro-Anaya was once in the police academy until she and her family welcomed their second child into the world. She also runs her own business teaching and coaching swimming, writing speeches, consulting businesses in property management, construction, roofing, and California condominium HOA legal resolution matters.

 

In her own words:
