BMHS Well-Represented in Lions Game

Torrance, CA (February 1, 2016): Bishop Montgomery was well-represented in the the 52nd Annual West Torrance Lions All-Star Football Game on Saturday, January 30. The Blue Team, coached by BMHS' Ed Hodgkiss and his staff, beat the Red Team 6-0 in a defensive battle.

The only score came in the second quarter on a four yard run by BMHS quarterback Brendan Marafino '16, who was one of three BMHS seniors to play in the game for the Blue Team. Late in the 4th quarter, Patrick Smith '16 broke up a 3rd down pass that would have given the Red Team a first down. A few minutes later, Dominic Johnson '16 had one of the key plays of the game. On 4th down at their own 28 yard line, the Blue Team ran a fake punt with Johnson carrying the ball 12 yards for the first down to put the game away.

At halftime, Marafino was awarded one of three scholarships given by the West Torrance Lions Club. The scholarship is based on leadership, academics, and service.
