Torrance, CA (February 26, 2013): On Friday, February 22, Bishop Montgomery alumna and Olympic champion Carmelita Jeter '98 received the Golden Triumph Award at the 16th Annual Black History Celebration presented by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce. The event, held at the Torrance Marriott, celebrates African Americans who make a difference in their communities.
Also honored were Olympic champion and founder of the the California Special Olympics Rafer Johnson, Special Olympic champion Michelle Core, and Los Angeles Clipper Ryan Hollins. The Master of Ceremonies was Jim Hill, CBS 2 News' Sports anchor.
