Service Hours

 

Members are required to complete 50 hours of service each year. Members are invited to participate in chapter projects to earn their hours, and can also earn hours through their involvement with other school, church, or community programs.

 

Chapter Projects:  These projects shall have the following characteristics: fulfill a need within the school or community, have the support of the administration and the faculty, be appropriate and educationally defensible, and be well-planned, organized, and executed.

 

  • The BMHS peer tutoring program is the chapter's ongoing campus service project.

 

  • The chapter sponsors a sock collection for a community organization. This project will be promoted campus-wide, and all members are expected to participate,

 

Member Projects:  Each member shall have the opportunity for choosing and participating in an individual service project which reflects his or her particular talents and interested and is approved by the chapter adviser. 

 

Service Hours: Members may begin logging service hours the day after the service hour deadline each spring. Service hours will be due in late spring for all members.

  • Returning members = 50 hours 
  • Newly inducted members = 25 hours

BMHS NHS members must record and track their service hours using x2Vol. Instructions on how to create an account will be posted in the NHS Google classroom.
