Welcome, My name is Chris Schugt and I have been teaching here at Bishop Montgomery since 2019. I am an alum as well having graduated in 2001. My education background includes a bachelor's degree from Holy Names University and a master's degree from Loyola Marymount University. In addition to that, I have earned my teaching credential from LMU as well.
I currently am the algebra I and pre-algebra teacher as well as one of the geometry teachers. In the past, I have taught geometry, and pre-calculus at Saint Anthony High School in Long Beach for 5 years and I have taught middle school math for St. Raymond School for the 5 years before that.
My teaching philosophy embodies and open-mindset that focuses on learning from mistakes and students being a on constant path of growth. I like to tell kids that instead of saying I'm never going to get this or I don't understand it to instead say "I don't know it yet". We want to be life longer learners.
With the new year beginning online, there are a few items to point out that might be different than if we were to be on campus. With being online, office hours will work a bit differently. Wednesday is now the day for student-teacher meetings, open drop-in/drop-out assistance or time for whatever suits your needs for that week. You may also email me to arrange a Zoom office session if need be for any of the other days if something comes up or it works best for your schedule.
