Algebra I and Geometry

Welcome, My name is Chris Schugt and I have been teaching here at Bishop Montgomery since 2019. I am an alum as well having graduated in 2001. My education background includes a bachelor's degree from Holy Names University and a master's degree from Loyola Marymount University.  In addition to that, I have earned my teaching credential from LMU as well.

I currently am the algebra I and algebra II teacher.  In the past, I have taught geometry, and pre-calculus at Saint Anthony High School in Long Beach for 5 years and I have taught middle school math for St. Raymond School for the 5 years before that.

My teaching philosophy embodies and open-mindset that focuses on learning from mistakes and students being a on constant path of growth. I like to tell kids that instead of saying I'm never going to get this or I don't understand it to instead say "I don't know it yet".  We want to be life longer learners.
With getting to teach geometry once again, I look forward to the challenges of getting students to love geometric constructions. To me, it is one of the more fun aspects of the course. Students get to bring the geometric concepts to life and experience them first hand.
