Using the white construction paper provided, students are to create a poster and chart of US Territorial Expansion through 1860. The chart will include date acquired, previous owner and the circumstances of the acquisition AND a map that illustrates the land involved – Chart/map includes: Original US, Louisiana Purchase, British Cession (1818), Spanish Cession (1819), Texas Annexation, Oregon Country, Mexican Cession, and the Gadsden Purchase (**Hint – these are listed in the order the US acquired them!**). I have a box of crayons/colored pencils on the front podium if the students would like to use them.
