General Injury Guidelines:
Injuries should be reported to coach and/or Athletic Trainer. Serious injuries should be seen by a physician. Athletes who are seen by a physician are under the care of that physician until that physician clears them to resume playing/practicing. To return to practice, athletes must turn in a “Doctor’s note/Release to return to Sports” to the Athletic Training Room. Athletic Trainer will provide notes to coaches for injured athletes to return to practice.
Injuries, such as sprains and strains, should be iced for 15 minutes. Wait 1 hour between icing sessions. Icing 3 times per day is recommended, especially for new injuries. A bag of frozen peas makes a nice ice pack. Avoid heat for the first 48 hours following an injury. Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin for the first 48 hours following an injury.
