*BMHS will offer athletic physicals on campus on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 9:00 - 12:00. All student-athletes are required to have an updated physical on file with the athletic department. The cost for the physical is $20.

**BMHS is looking for doctors and/or nurses to assist with the physicals on June 13, 2009. This is a great way to get service hours. For more information, contact BMHS Athletic Trainer Jamie Kamiya at 310-540-2021 ext. 261.

Carmelita Jeter '98 Wins National Title
On Friday, June 26, 2009 Carmelita Jeter '98 won the women's 100 meters at the U.S. Track & Field Championships in Eugene, OR. Her time of 10.776 edged Muna Lee by one-thousandth of a second and gave Jeter her first national title.

Rudy Garbalosa '85 Wins NCAA Title
Rudy Garbalosa '85, a former BMHS baseball standout and head baseball coach, led Lynn University (FL) to the 2009 NCAA Division II baseball title. It was the first baseball national championship in school history for the Fighting Knights. Lynn defeated Emporia State 2-1 in the championship game. Garbalosa was an outstanding player at BMHS and later served as head baseball coach for four years (1991-1994) before moving on to the college coaching ranks. Recent BMHS graduate Christian Koppenhaver '09 will be a freshman for Lynn and Garbalosa in the fall. For more information on Lynn's national championship, go to www.lynn.edu/athletics.

Noelle Quinn '03 Coming Home
Former BMHS girls' basketball standout Noelle Quinn '03 was acquired by the Los Angeles Sparks on May 5, 2009 in a trade with her former team, the Minnesota Lynx. Quinn, a native of Los Angeles, played at UCLA after graduating from BMHS. For more information, go to www.wnba.com/sparks.

Justin Cobbs Named Wooden Player-of-the-Year
BMHS Boys' Basketball standout Justin Cobbs '09 has been named the Division IV winner of the John R. Wooden High School Player-of-the-Year Award. The award is given to the MVP of each of the five CIF-SS divisions and the city section MVP. Cobbs will be presented the award on April 10, 2009 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Cobbs is the second boys' basketball player from BMHS to win the award. Errick Craven '01 won the award in both 2000 and 2001.

Brandon Bibbins Signs Letter-of-Intent
BMHS Boys' Basketball standout Brandon Bibbins '09 has signed a letter-of-intent to continue his basketball career at The Master's College. Bibbins was a 1st team All-Del Rey League pick and a 2nd Team All-CIF pick in 2008-09.

Two More Knights Sign Letters-of-Intent

On February 4, 2009, two more BMHS student-athletes signed national letters-of-intent to continue their athletic careers in college. Shelbie Luna '09 signed with the University of New Mexico where she will play soccer for Head Coach (and 1986 BMHS alumna) Kit Schwartzman-Vela. McKenzie McGoldrick '09, also a girls' soccer standout for the Lady Knights, signed with the University of Michigan. Luna and McGoldrick joining Justin Cobbs '09 (basketball) and Alexandria Davis '09 (softball), who both signed in November with the University of Minnesota.
